Gothenburg Health, a Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic, located in beautiful central Nebraska (close to North Platte and Kearney), is currently seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our team.

Purpose

Under general supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor, responsible for greeting and receiving patients and visitors. Answers telephones, schedules appointments/procedures, and performs general business functions as assigned that protect the integrity and confidentiality of every individual patient ultimately supporting the hospital’s mission.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, creates a friendly helpful contact and monitors waiting time prior to medical appointment.
  • Assists with the scheduling of patient appointments and prepares patient records for the day.
  • Schedules and verifies medical appointments, processes paper work for appointments and directs patients to appropriate department.
  • Answers clinic phones and directs patient inquiries appropriately as needed.
  • Enters all patient demographic and billing information in patient health record.
  • Collaborates and interacts with other disciplines and departments, i.e., medical records, physician clinics, lab, x-ray, physical therapy, social services, cardiac rehab, surgery, etc.
  • Monitors and maintains office supply inventory and the physical environment of the lobby.
  • May clean and help to maintain equipment.
  • Will collect payments for patient services and handle and process transactions accordingly.
  • Promotes the most effective and efficient delivery of quality health services for patients.
  • Serves as a resource person for the department and other employees.
  • Serves as a liaison between physicians, physicians and staff, and staff members.
  • Checks disaster supply kit and equipment for proper function and adequate supply on a regular basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients, department and hospital.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and safety related activities and duties as required.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with facility and department infection control policies.
  • Has a clear understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and develops and follows department policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Works effectively as a team member within the facility to provide quality service to all hospital departments through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
  • Participates in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement as appropriate.
  • Expands job-related knowledge and skills to improve and adjust to change.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the Clinic Department.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and in-services pertaining to hospital as a whole or the clinic dept.
  • Performs other related duties as needed in order to support the achievement of department goals and objectives.
  • Must recognize the importance of all aspects of their position.
  • If bilingual, provide translation services to patients as needed for their care and services.
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned.
