Director of Finance

Position Summary

The Director of Finance reports directly to the CFO and manages the organization’s accounts payable, payroll, accounting, and charge master. This position is responsible for all aspects of staff management, performance, and creating a professional environment that focuses on the customer.  This position is also a key contributor along with the rest of the finance team and operations leadership in promoting a stable and successful financial position for Gothenburg Health.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct, evaluate, and improve the performance of finance staff to ensure excellence in employee engagement, operational outcomes, and patient experience.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and controls that help ensure compliance in all aspects of finance and accounting with federal, state, and local laws as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Serve as a key member of operationally critical committees which focus on organizational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and collaboratively to provide quality, seamless internal and external customer service to foster an innovative, forward-thinking culture.
  • Assist CFO in preparation of financial statements and for submission to the Senior Team and Board of Directors.
  • Assist CFO in yearly financial audit.
  • Oversee and provide support to direct reports who execute the day-to-day functions of accounts payable, payroll, and accounting so they can excel at their assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare finance or accounting.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines by demonstrating excellent time management skills.
  • Works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment or independently as required.
