Gothenburg Health has a newly constructed surgical wing and is proud to offer top-of-the-line healthcare to Gothenburg and surrounding areas.

Our new 3,900 square foot Perioperative Arena incorporates two fully equipped, Stryker surgical suites, an endoscopy suite, pre-and post-surgical staging areas as well as advanced technology decontamination and sterilization rooms.  Emergency and elective surgical procedures are done here including general surgery, gynecological and obstetrical.

Hometown Benefits

The same familiar faces will care for you at Gothenburg Health regardless of whether you are having a cesarean birth, an appendectomy, a colonoscopy, a cataract surgery or your gallbladder removed! This familiarity reduces some of the stress of having surgery. The staff are cross trained to be proficient in all phases of surgical care.  The added conveniences of offering a wide variety of surgical and endoscopic procedures here in Gothenburg, close to your home, also contribute to a more manageable experience.

Time and Attention

Patients get individualized attention by our surgery team. You are a name and not a number at Gothenburg Health. Although we are proud to offer a number of surgical procedures, our traffic is not at a chaotic pace and proper time is allocated to all patients.

24/7 anesthesia coverage

You never have to worry. Our CRNAs, Jackie Erb and Brooke Sherbeck, are ready and prepared to take care of you when you need it most.

Specialized Surgical Staff

Merrie QuigleyMerrie Quigley’s passion for patients is obvious as she talks about assisting in the operating room, but what is inspiring is listening to her talk about educating herself to higher levels in order to provide a higher level of care as well as to do what she loves for the rest of her life. She became the first and only First Assist at Gothenburg Health after completing a two-year online course, 130 hours of mentorship with four surgeons and a five-day suture/surgery workshop through the National Institute for First Assist (NIFA). A Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) is a nurse who works directly with the surgeon under his/her guidance to aid in surgical procedures.
