Dr. Garret Shaw recognized for high-quality diabetes care

Gothenburg Health physician, Garret T. Shaw, MD, was recognized in September by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for delivering high-quality diabetes care. Earning the NCQA Diabetes Recognition sets Dr. Shaw apart as a physician who is willing to above and beyond for his patients.

“We are fortunate to have someone like Dr. Shaw who is committed to the highest level of diabetes care at Gothenburg Health. It means that people who are living with diabetes have access to quality care close to home,” Clinic Operations Director Cassie Hilbers said.

The Diabetes Recognition program is designed to recognize clinicians who use evidence-based measure to provide quality care to their patients with diabetes. The measurements of the program include: HbA1c control, blood pressure control, eye exams, nephropathy assessment, foot exams and smoking and tobacco use cessation assistance.

Dr. Shaw’s certificate of recognition is effective through September 2025.

NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. NCQA’s website (ncqa.org) contains information to help consumers, employers and others make more-informed health care choices.
