For 26 years, a day on the golf course has helped shape the future of healthcare. The Gothenburg Health Foundation will host its 26th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, August 21, at Wild Horse Golf Course. The four-person scramble, featuring a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start, raises funds for scholarships awarded to graduating seniors pursuing careers in healthcare and medicine.

What began as a fundraising event has grown into a lasting investment in the future of healthcare. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, golfers, and volunteers, the Foundation has now awarded more than 50 scholarships to students pursuing medical careers. Even more rewarding, many recipients have returned to rural communities to provide care close to home.

One outstanding example is Dr. Dane Wilson, a 2011 scholarship recipient and Gothenburg High School graduate, who will return to Gothenburg this September to practice medicine at Gothenburg Health. His journey from scholarship recipient to physician reflects the Foundation's mission of supporting students who aspire to healthcare careers and encouraging them to bring their talents back to communities like Gothenburg.

Gothenburg Health is also proud to employ several other former scholarship recipients, including Jackie (Evanson) Erb, a 2005 scholarship recipient; Landen Haake, a 2010 recipient; and Kaylee Olsen, a 2026 recipient. 

Guided by its theme, “The Gift of Health,” the Foundation continues to support educational opportunities that benefit not only scholarship recipients, but also the communities they will one day serve.

Individuals and teams are invited to register for this year's tournament, and a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available. Sponsors are encouraged to commit their support by July 24 to ensure recognition opportunities and event signage. Golfers are asked to register by Aug. 7. Participation offers more than a great day of golf; it is an opportunity to invest in the future of healthcare both locally and beyond.

At registration, players will have the opportunity to purchase mulligans, tee forwards, and raffle tickets to add to the fun and excitement of the day. Teams may also purchase the Ultimate Team Package, which includes all tournament extras plus four drink tickets.

In addition to first- and second-place team prizes in both flights, golfers will compete for proximity prizes throughout the course. Pony Express Chevrolet continues its longstanding support of the tournament's hole-in-one contests.
