David Benavides, MD and John Waters, MD will be seeing patients at Gothenburg Health as part of the Specialty Clinic starting in April. Dr. Benavides will provide orthopedic spine care, while Dr. Waters will provide interventional cardiac care.  

Dr. Benavides, an orthopedic spine surgeon, is associated with Central Nebraska Spinal Surgery Center in Kearney. His services include disk replacements, minimally invasive spinal fusions, kyphoplasty, carpal tunnel release, and spinal surgery, which includes herniated discs in the neck and back, spinal instrumentation, spinal fusions, and spinal tumors. He completed his residency at Scott and White Memorial Hospital through Texas A&M in Temple, Texas. His fellowship was completed with South Texas Orthopedic and Spinal Surgery Associates in San Antonio.

Dr. Waters, and interventional cardiologist, is a member of the CHI Health Clinic Heart Institute. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the heart and blood vessels using catheter-based procedures to treat complex cardiac conditions. He completed his internship and residency from the University of California Sacramento. Then, he completed his heart specialization at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Illinois.

Cassie Hilbers, Chief Ancillary Officer, said that Gothenburg Health is pleased to offer these specialty services in partnership with Dr. Benavides and Dr. Waters. Their presence in the specialty clinic each month will benefit patients who need these services close to home. 

These two providers are joining 16 other specialist that regularly see patients in the Specialty Clinic. Specialty providers work in partnership with the local providers to provide expert care close to home.
