Patient Access/Registration Specialist

Position Summary

The Patient Access Representative will serve as the first point of contact.  They are responsible for guiding patients through the admissions process by screening patients for insurance eligibility and maintaining an accurate record of patient demographic information.  Will ensure patient information is current and entered correctly for claims processing.  Position reports directly to Revenue Cycle Director.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collect and validate all patient demographic and insurance information in the patient chart for accurate and timely claims filing.
  • Validate insurance eligibility on all patients for future medical needs and claims processing.
  • Collect patient copays to be applied to the patient visit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and billing terminology
  • Know of insurance guidelines including Medicare & Medicaid HMO plans
  • Full-time work hours: Monday through Friday, with Saturday rotation required.
