Sandy Jacobson named recipient of Caring Kind Award

Sandra (Sandy) Jacobson will be recognized by the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) as one of the Nebraska-member hospital employees receiving the organization’s prestigious “The Caring Kind” award for excellence in service.

Jacobson, an employee of Gothenburg Health for 4 years, received her CDM/CMFPP certification in 1989 and has been in the food industry since 1977. Serving people through nutritional services is her life’s passion and work.

Mick Brant, Gothenburg Health Chief Executive Officer, said, “She always goes the extra mile to ensure patients, community members, and coworkers have been provided the best possible care and service. Sandy will find a solution to any issue that comes up and does so with compassion. She will not quit until the job is done to her satisfaction.”

One example of this was shared by Heidi Galas, Outpatient Nurse at Gothenburg Health. “Sandy was kind enough to sit with a sweet little grandma in the cafe to eat lunch with her until her next appointment (Bible study). The patient LOVED her company and told everyone at Bible study about her wonderful experience at the hospital,” she said.

Additionally, Jacobson exemplifies excellence by pursuing additional education and certification such as attending regional conferences and meetings.

2022 marks 43 years that The Caring Kind award has been given to Nebraska's most caring and compassionate hospital employees. Each NHA member hospital is invited to nominate one employee who have risen to the top by providing service excellence and dedication to their profession.

The award recipients commit themselves to the betterment of their hospitals and health systems, their customers, their co-workers, and their communities.

This award is given out at a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 21 as part of the NHA Annual Convention in LaVista, Ne.
