25th Annual Golf Tournament Drives Support for Medical Education
It’s a tradition that has been making a difference for a quarter of a century. The Gothenburg Health Foundation will host its 25th annual golf tournament on Friday, August 22 at Wild Horse Golf Course. The four-man scramble, with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start, raises funds to provide scholarships to graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in the medical field.
Over the past 25 years, the Foundation has given out 46 scholarships, with many of those students returning to practice medicine locally. “The Gift of Health” is the guiding theme of all fund-raising activities being undertaken by the Foundation, and the scholarships offered because of funds raised at the golf tournament each year is no exception.
Information about this year’s tournament can be found at charitygolftoday.com/gothenburghealth. Individuals or teams can register to play with the early bird discount before August 8th. The Foundation is also offering playing sponsorship opportunities. Participating in the Foundation tournament is not only a fun day of golf but also an opportunity to support the future of healthcare locally and beyond.
Non-playing sponsorships are also available for those who’d like to support the Foundation. The deadline for new sponsors is July 18 as signage and logoed items are not guaranteed after that date. Returning sponsors are asked to commit their support prior to August 8th.
At registration, players can purchase mulligans, tee forwards, and raffle tickets to heighten the fun of the day. Teams can purchase the Ultimate Team package, which includes all these perks plus four drink tickets.
Opportunities to sign up to volunteer are also available on the site. Because the Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer organization, community volunteers are encouraged to get involved.
In addition to first and second place team prizes in both flights of golfers, individuals will have a chance to win proximity prizes on various holes. Pony Express Chevrolet has been a long-time supporter of the hole-in-one contests.
