Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer is the senior executive role that manages, monitors, and reports financial outcomes of Gothenburg Health. This role works in partnership with other senior leaders to develop and deliver strategy to achieve high quality patient outcomes. Ultimate responsibility for execution of the financial strategy lies with this position. The CFO is also responsible for determining and formulating policies and provides overall direction of the accounting, finance, and business operations, and food service. The Chief Financial Officer plans, directs, and coordinates operational activities in accounting, finance and business operations with the assistance of subordinate managers and staff. This includes the development, direction, and integration of the organization’s mission and goals into strategic financial and business plans; thereby supporting the implementation of programs and services through the Senior Leadership Team and ensuring the overall success of the organization. Through collaboration and partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO ensures the successful attainment of the strategic financial objectives which support the ongoing delivery of high-quality clinical and administrative services by the organization.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to maintain and improve the fiscal standing of Gothenburg Health.
- Prepare current and comparative analyses, reports and statements reflecting variations in cost and revenues, and financial condition of the hospital by analyzing net income, expenses, and profit/loss based on factors such as patient revenue, material and supply costs, and staff salaries and wages.
- Prepare special analytical, statistical and financial studies to support long range planning, and investigation and appraisal of major equipment purchases, capital purchases and hospital expansion or remodel.
- Direct and coordinate activities concerning financial administration, general accounting, financial analysis, business services, material management, reimbursement, and food service to ensure efficient operational function.
- Develop and maintain appropriate cash flow projections and controls, continually reviewing the cash position to ensure that adequate funds are available to meet outstanding and planned commitments.
- Prepare financial statements for submission to the Senior Team and Board of Directors.
- Attend meetings of the Board of Directors to provide the financial report.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Ten years of progressive management experience in finance, preferably in a healthcare environment.
