Cook Assistant

Position Summary

The cook assistant will be responsible for assisting cooks in preparing meals, cleaning and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The role requires collaboration, attention to detail, and the capacity to handle high pressure situations in a dynamic culinary setting.

Key Accountabilities

  • Food is to be prepared in sufficient quantity following written menus using standard recipes for general and Therapeutic diets.
  • Maintain records, temperatures, meal counts.
  • Attend Nutritional Services meetings to receive updates and direction.
  • Sanitize and clean workstations and utensils for safety and to meet health requirements.
  • Ensure each patient order has the correct food to meet quality and dietary standards.
  • Provide menus to patients and deliver food orders to patients in a timely manner for a positive patient experience.
  • Storing all food properly for safe storage and to prevent spoilage.
  • Cook according to food code and safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed.
  • Wash and put away dishes for readiness of next food preparation cycle.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the café including sweeping and mopping.
  • Taking care of freight when truck deliveries arrive.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Able to work in a faced paced environment.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Experience in quantity cooking and working with modified diets is preferred.
