Acute LPN (Full-Time, Days)

Position Summary

A Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse-Certified.  This role provides direct patient care, meeting both psychological and physical needs of the patients in accordance with physicians’ orders, nursing and department guidelines. The LPN/LPN-C contributes to the continuity and quality of care, which fosters the best interest, and well-being of all patients and their families.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct and document a thorough assessment of each patient's medical status upon admission and throughout the patient's course of treatment for continuity of care.

  • Assist the RN with emergency and outpatient care, which may include accompanying a patient on a transfer to another facility for continuity of care.

  • Assists in developing and implementing an individualized treatment plan for each assigned patient to ensure quality clinical outcomes.

  • Assume, when assigned, the duties of medication nurse or floor nurse to provide for efficient workflow.

  • Provide regular patient status updates to appropriate personnel to ensure transfer of information.

  • Complete required documentation in an accurate and timely manner for up-to-date charts and records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current License Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure in the state of Nebraska.

  • Current BLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing 25 pounds.

  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and grasp with arms and hands.

  • Ability to proofread, check documents for accuracy, and enter or transform words or data using a keyboard.

  • Ability to work with hands in cleaning and sterilizing solutions when necessary. 

Work Environment

  • Acute and emergent patient care environments. 

  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens.

  • Exposure and handling of some sharp instrumentation.
